Natural Products

In today’s modern world we are faced with an abundance of choice when we enter stores to find our beauty products.

Shelves are stacked full of so-called natural beauty products claiming to have pure ingredients, yet when you take a closer look you see that the often the ingredients list is full of synthetic components.  These synthetic ingredients could irritate the skin, causing dryness and itching. Serious claims over recent years have linked certain synthetic chemicals to cancer and other worrying conditions.

As we are becoming more careful about the quality of the food we put into our bodies, it’s surprising that more people haven’t converted to truly ‘natural products’.

Average beauty products contain synthetic chemicals for many reasons: to make them look and smell better, to create more lather, or for a longer shelf life.  Truly natural products avoid these potentially harmful additives, and this is why some organic products have a less appealing colour or don’t create as many bubbles.

Whilst certain chemicals that have been proven to be harmful to our bodies and have been banned from use, there are many which have been linked to health issues and yet are still widely used today.  In fact some chemicals used in common beauty products and cosmetics are also found in anti-freeze and brake fluid.

Yet, in the move towards natural and organic products you still must be wary. ‘Natural’ is not a regulated term and in neither is ‘Organic’. Only through accreditation from organisations such as the Soil Association can you be sure that your natural products are what they claim to be.

Here are two of the key ingredients we avoid in our Willow Organic Beauty Products and the reasons why…

Preservatives (Parabens).

Methyl, Ethyl, Propyl and Butyl parabens are the most common preservative used in skin care.  Many health experts have suggested that parabens may be carcinogenic (cancer-causing). Whilst there is no conclusive proof that they cause cancer, it is worrying nevertheless.

Sodium Lauryl Sulphates/Sodium Laureth Sulphates
These are foaming agents commonly used in soaps, shampoos, shower and bath products.  They can cause irritation to the eyes and skin and have been linked to asthma

With Willow Organic Beauty Products you can achieve natural beauty from truly organic and effective products.
